K-Pop Exorcist

Somewhere between age three and four, children gain sentience and immediately misuse it.

Sis is turning 4 in a few days and she’s been a textbook threenager. Nothing makes her happy… well, that’s not true. Arguing makes her happy. Genuinely. So much so that when she’s listing her favorite things, she includes arguing. I can’t stand it. I tried ignoring it. That did nothing. If anything, her arguing just got louder and more confident. This went on for weeks. Pure madness.

I started to suspect there was a demon living inside my sweet Sis. Nothing else accounted for the chaos, and we had clearly been trying to please it for far too long. Then Sis found K Pop Demon Hunters, and that was the turning point.

She’s still afraid of everything, so we haven’t actually watched the movie. But the song “Golden” has been on repeat. I’m not mad about it. It’s a banger, and Sis can hit those high notes like she’s HUNTR/X herself.

Weird timing. As soon as we found the demon hunters, she started being kinder, laughing more, and going along with our agreed upon plans for the day. Just like that, the arguing and tantrums stopped. My sweetie is back. The demon appears to have been exorcised.

I’m aware the demon could return at any moment. I am simply not thinking about that right now.
