What We Do in the Shadows

Movie Review

“Nothing says eternal darkness like arguing over a chore wheel.”

Review: What We Do in the Shadows

This movie is a five out of five, no hesitation. I am thoroughly entertained every single time I watch it — and trust me, I’ve watched it a lot. Even the mistakes and bloopers feel intentional, like the movie itself is in on the joke. These vampires aren’t glamorized. They’re not sparkly, seductive, or cool. They’re messy roommates who bicker about chores and accidentally start fights with werewolves while trying to go clubbing. It’s so fucking funny, and so damn smart.

The brilliance is in the details. The background gags, the offhand comments, the awkward silences — if you blink, you’ll miss something that’ll have you howling the next time you rewatch. That’s why I keep coming back: every time, there’s a new layer of absurdity waiting to be noticed.

And if you love the movie, do yourself a favor and dive into the TV show. It’s the same universe but follows a different group of vampires trying to navigate Staten Island, and it’s just as hysterical. Basically, the whole franchise is a must-watch if you like your comedy sharp, weird, and unhinged in the best way.
